Steps

Translated from the Korean original. Amounts are as in the original recipe.

  1. Wash the barley clean, add plenty of water, and soak for about 30 minutes.
  2. Rub the webfoot octopus with flour, then rinse it clean again.
  3. Lightly blanch the washed octopus and chop it into small pieces.
  4. Chop the Korean water dropwort, carrot, and onion into small pieces.
  5. Add sesame oil to a pot, stir-fry the octopus first, add the soaked barley and stir-fry again, then add the chopped vegetables (4).
  6. Add the broth to the pot and stir gently with a wooden spatula as it boils. When the porridge comes together, add the milk, cheese, and a little soy sauce and boil once more to finish.
💡 TipThe octopus and barley give a chewy texture, blend well with the assorted vegetables, and the low-sodium cheese lowers sodium without any separate salt.
