Steps
Translated from the Korean original. Amounts are as in the original recipe.
- Marinate the eel in ginger syrup for about 20 minutes.
- Cut the ginger and onion into very thin strips and soak in cold water to remove their sharpness.
- Make the sauce with the sauce ingredients.
- Spread the sliced onion and ginger on the bottom of a pot and steam the eel on top without added water.
- Put the steamed eel on a plate, top with the onion and ginger strips, and serve with the sauce.
💡 TipSeed mustard in the sauce gives a spicy kick and brings out the eel's nutty flavor without soy sauce or salt, and cooking the eel by steaming it like suyuk (boiled meat) rather than seasoning it reduces sodium intake.
Diet and allergy labels are estimated from the ingredient list. Check labels if you have an allergy.
