Steps

Translated from the Korean original. Amounts are as in the original recipe.

  1. Wash the surface of the kabocha squash well and dry it, cut off the top at the stem, scoop out the inside with a spoon, and sprinkle with salt.
  2. Mince the shrimp, wrap the tofu in a cotton cloth to remove the moisture and mash finely, finely mince the soaked shiitake mushrooms and green and red bell peppers, and slice the scallions.
  3. Mix the ingredients from step 2 together and season with salt, minced garlic, ground sesame seeds, sesame oil, and white pepper to make the filling.
  4. Remove the moisture from the inside of step 1.
  5. Lightly sprinkle flour on the inside of step 4 so it coats evenly.
  6. Fill with the prepared filling, cover with the cut-off stem top as a lid, and steam in a steamer over rising steam for about 20 minutes, then cut into 4 to 6 pieces and serve.
💡 TipYou can also put rice and nuts inside the squash.
