Steps
Translated from the Korean original. Amounts are as in the original recipe.
- Cut the rice cakes in half, blanch in boiling water, and drain.
- Wash the cockles, briefly boil them in the hot water used to blanch the rice cakes (residual heat), drain, and when cool, remove the cockle meat.
- Thread the blanched rice cakes and cockle meat alternately onto skewers.
- Mince the green onion and onion.
- Add gochujang, onion, green onion, minced garlic, rice syrup, soy sauce, gochugaru, and sesame oil to make the gochujang seasoning.
- Heat a little brown rice oil in a pan and stir the gochujang seasoning, then coat the cockle rice cake skewers from step 3 with the gochujang seasoning and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
💡 TipScrub the cockles vigorously, rubbing the shells together, then soak them in salted water for about half a day, changing the water several times to remove grit. Since the cockles and rice cakes are already blanched, grill them lightly in the pan so the cockles do not get tough.
